Do you support Apple Mac?
By using a router (provided with the "including
equipment" activation option), our service can be used with Apple Macs,
Computers running Windows, X-Box and many more computer related
equipment.
Can I connect multiple computers to my ADSL
connection?
We do not put a restriction on the number of
machines that can be connected to our ADSL provision. We would
highly recommend our ADSL Routers as they come with both an RJ45
connection and USB, enabling the direct connection of 2 PCs or more, if
connected directly to a switch or hub.
Do I get a price reduction if I am too far from
my BT exchange to get a full 2mb/s ADSL Broadband Connection?
If you are too far from your local BT exchange,
we will activate your connection with the fastest speed possible with no
reduction in fees.
What happens if I go over my bandwidth
allowance?
We currently only monitor the amount of
bandwidth a customer is using. During 2005 a full bandwidth
solution will be introduced. This will alert you if you are
getting close to your monthly limit, along with giving you the option to
purchase additional data transfer.
Can I change packages before my
contract is up?
You are able to change packages at any
point within your contract. For instance you may need additional
data transfer for a couple of months and so upgrade to the "Connect" or
"Non Stop" option and then change back at a later stage. Please be
aware that changing between some packages does incur a cost which is
indicated on the main package pages.
Can I opt out of the Website Content Filtering?
It is possible to opt out of Website
Content Filtering at any time, or at ordering (enter this request in the
additional notes field on the final order page), but you will need to
either be using a "Non Stop" package, or have ordered a static IP.
Please note that by requesting this your IP address may change. On all
Professional packages website content filtering is an optional extra.
Can I opt out of the Central Firewall?
It is possible to opt out of the
Central Firewall at any time, or at ordering (enter this request in the
additional notes field on the final order page), but you will need to
either be using a "Non Stop" package, or have ordered a static IP.
Please note that by requesting this your IP address may change. On
all Professional packages Central Firewall protection is not included.
Will I be able to send out email even if it is a
domain not hosted by you?
Our mail servers are set to allow
email to be sent from any email address, as long as the user is
connected using a Christian Technology ADSL Broadband package.
Sending of email from different accounts is monitored and any person
found to be breach our acceptable usage policy will have their account
terminated.
If I am a business can I use a Home package?
Yes, we put no restriction on
the usage for a specific package. You are able to connect as many
machines as you wish. Please be aware that the Central Firewall,
included as standard on all Home packages, blocks all incoming requests,
hence restricting remote access, or direct SMTP feeds. You can
request to opt out of the Central Firewall option at anytime (your IP
address may change) or at the point of ordering. You must though
be on either a "Non Stop" package or have ordered a static IP address.
Can I have additional IP addresses assigned to
my ADSL?
Yes. We offer the option
of 8 or 16 additional IP addresses, and these can be added at order
time, or at any time during your contract (your IP address may change).
You must have a "Non Stop" package to make use of this option.
Do you use proxy servers?
Yes we use proxy servers to
provide Website Content Filtering. If you need to access a webpage
without going through a proxy server then you can choose to opt out of
the filtering service. You will need to be using either a "Non
Stop" package have ordered a static IP.
What do I need to be able to migrate my
connection to Christian Technology?
Christian Technology through
our upstream providers subscribes to the ISP migration program. To
be able to migrate to Christian Technology you will need to obtain a MAC
(Migration Authorisation Code) from your current ISP and have fulfilled
your minimum contract length.
Do I still have to pay a BT line rental if I get
ADSL?
Yes. BT's telephone billing (line rental and call
charges) are unrelated to your ADSL. You will though not have to pay and
call costs for access to the internet, only the normal charges incurred
for making standard voice calls.
Can I install ADSL on a line with RedCare?
As of 31 July 2003, selected redcare services are now compatible with high-speed ADSL broadband internet
connections. Customers with an ADSL connection on their BT phone line
can now use the same line to receive the protection and security
afforded by a redcare or redcare gsm connection.
Full details and restrictions - http://www.redcare.bt.com/security/products/adsl.htm
Please note it is the customer responsibility to
make arrangements with RedCare and check the line is functioning
correctly after ADSL Broadband activation.
